FAITH CANNOT FAIL
HopefulMe
I realized that faith does not mean everything around me will be fine rather it means I will be fine despite how everything around me is.
One of the biggest lesson I learnt about faith came through a very hilarious happening.
During the period my school had vacated, I was in my room and very late at night; I needed to go to the kitchen and find something to eat.
Actually, it wasn't hunger that kept me awake.
Then I remembered that my kitchen had been literally plagued with a type of household pest: cockroaches to be precise: which were nocturnal in the day and very active at night.
It occurred to me to pray so I wouldn't see any of them and just prepare my meal because they really irritate me.
I made a decree and with FAITH stepped into the kitchen. Guess what?
I was welcomed by 2 cockroaches just at the entrance.
And at that point, I felt defeated.
My faith had failed. I didn't expect to see any cockroach after such exhibition of faith.
But after some time, I got the message behind this whole incident.
Listen to me, when you have faith, it's not a guarantee that nothing will go wrong but it's an assurance that you will always win.
You may have faith to get a good job.
And you'll see yourself fail several interviews. It doesn't always mean your faith didn't work. It means you have to try again without losing courage.
Faith cannot fail, trust God on that.
When Peter decided to walk on the sea and meet Jesus Christ, he had faith.
He kept walking firmly on what was the surface of water until something happened.
He saw the wind and storm.
Now, I think Peter felt his faith would keep the sea calm and also prevent the wind and storm from blowing. But it doesn't work that way.
This made him start to sink gradually, he felt his faith had failed and he willingly lost his victory to doubt.
He didn't understand that "Faith may not stop the wind from blowing but it will definitely keep us from sinking".
Faith is always accompanied with strong wind which are challenges, difficulties, pains, struggles, disappointments, rejections, emptiness etc.
And when you don't pull through, doubts will certainly come in and you'll start feeling you can't win again.
Elijah had faith when he prayed for rain but the rain didn't come instantly.
Abraham the father of faith, didn't receive his blessing as soon as he believed.
Joseph didn't become a ruler as soon as he had faith in the dream God gave him.
So don't be perplexed when you believe God and still encounter difficulties or delay. Fight the good fight of faith!
Well after murdering or rather killing the 2 cockroaches, I entered the kitchen and surprisingly I didn't see any other cockroach.
My kitchen was unusually calm throughout that night.
But I initially thought my faith had failed, I didn't know faith cannot be defeated.
It will always win as long as you keep believing.
So brethren the problem most times is not that we don't have big faith. Infact, the Bible recommends faith small like mustard seed.
The problem is we tend to feel our faith has failed when we see the storms and challenges of life not knowing that those challenges are part of what makes our faith victorious.
