MY CRITICS WERE RIGHT
RealityLifeTalks
Most times when people criticize us they are actually right.
Criticism help us grow if and only if we decide to.
Infact, the problem is not with the criticism, what we do after being criticized counts.
When I first did a major presentation, I was applauded by the audience as expected because it was actually my first time. Just as I sat down, someone tapped my shoulder and said "Your voice is bad... Work on it"
Ouch! That hurts. It was an awful comment, I thought. This guy should have at least cheered me up for the job well done and not say ill of me.
Actually, the guy was right, my voice was bad, I really had to work on it.
Now, instead of taking things as they were, right in my head, I translated the statement to "Your voice is good, Work on it to make it better"
And it sounded nice to me.
So when you are criticized, how you handle it matters alot.
For me, Criticism helps me grow: it makes me improve on myself.
It reminds me that people are actually keeping track of my progress and set backs.
It tells me where I am now and where people expect me to be.
There are some "not good" things about you which you may not point out but other people will.
So listen to critics but be discreet about it.
Now, you might be wondering if criticizing people is right or wrong.
The question should be "why do I have to criticize?" is it to encourage or make someone feel bad.
Relatively, I don't criticize people, I challenge them.
Instead of saying, "You cannot sing" you should rather say "You could sing better if you are willing to practice more"
Not everyone can handle criticism. Not everyone will understand the motive behind what you say to them.
So Challenge don't Criticize.
Allow people see their flaws and at the same instance show them a way to improve on themselves.
It's painful when someone says "You cannot do this" and the person doesn't show you a way to do it.
Don't take criticisms to heart, but you can as well give them room in your mind.
Criticism can help you live beyond mediocrity but your growth in life depends solely on YOU.
Turn those criticism into challenges and face them.
At the end of the day, you'll discover that your critics were right not because they were absolutely right but because you were able to prove them wrong.
