*DAILY DEW 26/MAY/2023*
*SANCTIFIED BY GOD THE FATHER* (II)
_Key Bible Text:_
*"First, Christ said, “You did not want animal sacrifices or sin offerings or burnt offerings or other offerings for sin, nor were you pleased with them†(though they are required by the law of Moses). Then he said, “Look, I have come to do your will.†He cancels the first covenant in order to put the second into effect. For God’s will was for us to be made holy by the sacrifice of the body of Jesus Christ, once for all time."* (Hebrews 10:8â€-‬10 (NLT))
_Bible Insight:_
To understand sanctification, we need to understand it with the insight from the Old Testament.
When Jesus came to die, he was actually providing another better and superior alternative to the sin problem.
This came about by canceling the first process that involved animal sacrifices. These were used as a way to sanctify the sinner. But it worked only as a temporary measure.
Jesus was the ultimate sacrifice which those animal sacrifices heralded. Jesus was the real source of sanctification. By his death and his blood, we secure sanctification in Christ Jesus.
Hebrews 10:10 (KJV) speak of the sacrifice of Jesus, his laying down his life according to God's will, as that *"By the which will we are sanctified through the offering of the body of Jesus Christ once for all."*
This is the foundation of our sanctification experience. This is the access point to our sanctification process. This is the first fold of sanctification. Without this first fold, no amount of works or obedience will further ensure sanctification.
However, once we have entered the experience of sanctification through Christ, we are by the same requirements of sanctification, expected to take it a step further, which is the second fold.
_MEDITATION:_
*For it became him, for whom are all things, and by whom are all things, in bringing many sons unto glory, to make the captain of their salvation perfect through sufferings. For both he that sanctifieth and they who are sanctified are all of one: for which cause he is not ashamed to call them brethren* (Hebrews 2:10-11 (KJV))
