*DAILY DEW 12/AUGUST/2023* *What You Do Shows Who You Respect* _Key Bible Text:_ *"But the midwives feared God, and did not as the king of Egypt commanded them, but saved the men children alive."* (Exodus 1:17 (KJV)) _Bible Insight:_ Exodus 1:15-20 has a very interesting story. One that emphasizes the place of being strong in ones convictions. The king of Egypt had a talk with two Hebrew midwives; one was named Shiphrah and the other Puah. He said, *"When you deliver the Hebrew women, look at the sex of the baby. If it's a boy, kill him; if it's a girl, let her live."* But the midwives had far too much respect for God and didn't do what the king of Egypt ordered; they let the boy babies live. They knew that the King could order their killing. But they did just like Jesus would later teach us. *"And fear not them which kill the body, but are not able to kill the soul: but rather fear him which is able to destroy both soul and body in hell."* (Matthew 10:28 (KJV)) The king of Egypt called in the midwives. "Why didn't you obey my orders? You've let those babies live!" The midwives answered Pharaoh, "The Hebrew women aren't like the Egyptian women; they're vigorous. Before the midwife can get there, they've already had the baby." When our actions show that we fear God, God takes pride in us and blesses us in his own way. God was pleased with the midwives. The people continued to increase in number--a very strong people. In this life, many circumstances will call into question who you actually fear/worship? Like Rehab, Like the Hebrew Midwives, may we align and agree with God always! Will you fear your boss over God? Will you fear your best friend over God? Will you fear your partner over God? Will you fear your government over God? Will you fear your life over God?
