Learn to be truly sorry and show it convincingly. If Amnon had good advisers in his life, or if he had a culture of self analysis or introspection, perhaps he could have realized that he should be ashamed of himself about how he handled Tamar's innocence and goodwill. He should have realized his wickedness and taken drastic steps to amend the situation. He should have apologized to Tamar and her brother. He should have taken her in after doing whatever is necessary if their culture permitted such, which I think is applicable as half brothers and sisters like Abraham and Sarah married. 5. His father failed to take any known steps to address the situation despite being "used" in the incident. The King ought to have done more than just being angry. There were punishments and interventions he could have ordered. He was the one who fell for the plot in the first place and asked Tamar to go serve his brother (Amnon) who pretended to be sick.. _MEDITATION:_ *If you must pretend about anything, pretend about things that will help you do better. Pretend and make it true by eventually actually accepting what you are pretending about because it is a good thing.
