*DAILY DEW 26/SEPTEMBER/2023* *Longsuffering* (IV) _Key Bible Text:_ "*But thou, O Lord, art a God full of compassion, and gracious, LONGSUFFERING, and plenteous in mercy and truth. O turn unto me, and have mercy upon me; give thy strength unto thy servant, and save the son of thine handmaid."* (Psalms 86:15-16 (KJV)) _Bible Insight:_ How is longsuffering the foundation for faith, Meekness, temperance (self control)? Faith is the headquarters of longsuffering if I may say. It is holding tenaciously and even stubbornly on the word of God even in the face of doubts and delays. Faith professed without the friction of a delay or strong opposition or contradiction is nothing but child's play. You cannot be a man or woman of faith except in the midst of challenging situations. That's why longsuffering is needed. When you can't slog it out with longsuffering like Job or Jesus on his way to the cross or Elijah who kept praying until the sign of rain appeared, where is your faith? Meekness! When Moses stood like a rock of defence for the people of Israel, you would think that the church of Israel was made up of very loyal and obedient congregation. Alas, the contrary was the case. Moses by meekness could care, defend and intercede for the stubborn israelites because of longsuffering. If you don't agree, search deeper and you will see. Self-control is the brain box of longsuffering. Without it, there can be no longsuffering. As true as that is, yet, self-control cannot function for long without longsuffering. So after a while, self control will grow weak, and would then rely on longsuffering to keep going. It is just like most African parents, self control parents longsuffering. *DAILY DEW 25/SEPTEMBER/2023* *Longsuffering* (III) _Key Bible Text:_ "*Thou therefore endure hardness, as a good soldier of Jesus Christ."* (2 Timothy 2:3 (KJV) _Bible Insight:_ How is longsuffering the foundation for gentleness or goodness? Gentleness is becoming a not very common quality as the days go by. These days, the gentle people are easily taken for granted, sidelined and sometimes outrightly canceled. Don't you think so? Well, the truth remains that gentleness remains a fruit of the spirit. The hustle and bustle of life and the woke generation spirit can never remove gentleness as a fruit of the Spirit. It therefore requires some measure of longsuffering to stick to the quality of gentleness. Need I say more? Goodness? Really? In a world where people almost always end up regretting after doing good!? Have you not experienced one of such yourself? Or have you not heard? Well, that is it! Goodness has never been under threat like it is these days. "Who being good help" or "who goodness help" will soon be a trend in a generation where the mohbads of this world are the celebrities. *DAILY DEW 24/SEPTEMBER/2023* *Longsuffering* (II) _Key Bible Text:_ "*Looking unto Jesus the author and finisher of our faith; who for the joy that was set before him ENDURED THE CROSS, DESPISING THE SHAME, and is set down at the right hand of the throne of God."* (Hebrews 12:2 (KJV)) _Bible Insight:_ How is longsuffering the foundation of other fruits of the Spirit!? Charity suffers long! Charity could never suffer long without long suffering. Love is kind!? How can love be kind towards those that are not kind without long suffering? What of Joy? Take Elder James' advice for isntance...James 1:2 (KJV) *My brethren, count it all joy when ye fall into divers temptations"* How can you ever do such without longsuffering? Joy in the face of divers temptations!? That is longsuffering in action! What of peace? How can we be peacemakers if we are not long sufferers? If we don't have sweetness of spirit that is the mark of longsuffering, how can we talk peace? Peace is pronounced where & when trouble, strife and quarels are commonplace. The man who brings peace in the face of strife and rancour can only do such in the spirit of longsuffering! Behold Jesus! When Simon Peter cut off Malchur's ear that night Jesus was to be arrested, who defended Malchur and rebuked Peter? Jesus! The very man Peter was set to fight for. Jesus healed the man's ear! How could he without longsuffering, knowing fully well he had spent that very night crying that God should take the cup away if possible!? Yet, He was busy making peace with people who wanted anything but peace! If that is not longsuffering, then what is longsuffering? *DAILY DEW 23/SEPTEMBER/2023* *Longsuffering* _Key Bible Text:_ "*Put on therefore, as the elect of God, holy and beloved, bowels of mercies, kindness, humbleness of mind, meekness, LONGSUFFERING."* (Colossians 3:12 (KJV)) _Bible Insight:_ Why did God give us longsuffering!? Without longsuffering, we will never be able to grow in Christian character. But what is longsuffering? It is to suffer long, for short. It is having the strength to face difficult or painful or inconvenient situations with stamina and endurance and doing so with grace and a positive attitude. God knew the sort of stuff that mankind has become. He knows mankind will have a very inseparable desire to inflict pain on fellow men out of greed and selfishness. God also knows that to become all he created us to be and live in his purpose, we must learn to thrive in the midst of the darkness and dark ways of this world. Hence, longsuffering is not in the category of "gifts of the Spirit" that is sort of optional. Rather, longsuffering is compulsory for every believer as a fruit or "follow come" feature expected of every believer of the Lord Jesus Christ. It is to your advantage that you develop longsuffering which you already have a deposit of. To wish it away is a sign of chronic ignorance and small mindedness. Without longsuffering many other fruits of the spirit will never have their maximum operation-- e.g. Love, Joy, Peace, Self Control, Gentleness all have a strong foundation in longsuffering. How? *DAILY DEW 22/SEPTEMBER/2023* *Redeeming the time* _Key Bible Text:_ "*Redeeming the time, because the days are evil."* (Ephesians 5:16 (KJV)) _Bible Insight:_ To "compensate for the faults or bad aspects of" is what it means to redeem. Or to "do something that compensates for poor past performance or behaviour". To "atone or make amends for (sin, error, or evil)" is what it means to redeem. Or to "save (someone) from sin, error, or evil." We redeem time only as we understand that truly the days are evil. Redeeming the time is always in the background of the evil times we live in. It is against that background of perversive evil and darkness that we can redeem the time. 1. We redeem the time because we have a past that we need to compensate for. Before you gave your life to Christ, you wasted time on frivolities and in wayward living. In Christ, as you gain more knowledge of God and his purpose for your life, you must intentionally compensate for the wasted years. 2. We redeem the time because the times we live in are evil. Haven come to the light, we must truly be children of light in the pervasive, palpable darkness of these times. Our lives must continually redeem the time. While everyone maybe living in agreement with the dictates of the law of sin and death, we must live according to God's divine purpose for us. 3. We must redeem the time because time redeemed is the conversion of vanities to eternity's gain. *DAILY DEW 21/SEPTEMBER/2023* *Small advice for believers.* _Key Bible Text:_ *"*And when Moses was gone into the tabernacle of the congregation to speak with him, then he heard the voice of one speaking unto him from off the mercy seat that was upon the ark of testimony, from between the two cherubims: and he spake unto him."* (Numbers 7:89 (KJV)) _Bible Insight:_ Have a notebook where you write down prophecies and instructions which you receive in public meetings or in your private meetings with the Lord. Go into the place of prayer with your Bible and your notebook. Prophecies are tools for spiritual warfare, and materials for building our destined future in God. Don't joke with them. Capture them. Go back over them and meditate. Pray into them, and rejoice over them. Your best days are here. One thing I have learnt is the importance of the prophetic in preparing us for the future. One simple way to define prophecy is: "God speaking to us". Prophecy is an entrance into the mind of God. Every Believer is prophetic in a sense. We all have the Spirit of God and can therefore know the mind of God. But there are also those who stand in the office of the Prophet. And their role is very important. Please don't underestimate the prophetic in preparing you for the future. Guard prophetic words given to you. They can save you from unnecessary troubles. They can give you speed. One way to activate the prophetic is to be given to much prayers. God speaks back when we speak to Him. When we make out time to worship God and seek Him in prayers, God will minister back to us, and show us things to come. *DAILY DEW 20/SEPTEMBER/2023* *There Is Always Room At The Top* _Key Bible Text:_ *"Touching the Almighty, we cannot find him out: he is excellent in power, and in judgment, and in plenty of justice: he will not afflict."* (Job 37:23 (KJV)) _Bible Insight:_ When I was in Bethel Comprehensive College, my secondary school at Layi Oyekanmi Street, Mushin, at that time, the school proprietress was full of inspiring quotes. One of her favourites is, "There is always room at the top." With this, she motivated us to always aim for the next room or place at the top. Many people are already and always at the lower rungs of life. However, those who dare to leave the common grounds soon learn that there is a fewer number of persons as you climb to the top. The ground level is crowded, in fact, over-crowded. Kick against being average. Become dissatisfied with managing anything just to get by. Seek to be your best and to do your best at what your hands find to do. I got into Bethel in Junior Secondary School 3 and I made up my mind to lead the class. Before the term was over, I topped the class, after coming 4th position twice in 1st and 2nd terms. There is something within you that fights or kicks against being average or ordinary. It is the spirit of God, which says to you that you are called to be the head and not the tail. If only you would allow the Spirit of God to take over your life and realize that there is a bond between excellence and the Holy Spirit, you'll make up your mind never to be average again. As Kings and Priests unto God, we are not mediocre kings and priests because God is not a mediocre God. He has made us excellent Kings and Priests because God is excellent. They always do what they promise, no matter how much it may cost."* (Psalms 15:4 (GNB)) _Bible Insight:_ 3. Doing what you promise, no matter what it may cost! How do you treat your promises? Do you treat them as mere words that you can turn and twist at your convenience? Do you say one thing at one time and later turn around to deny what you have said you will do? Lack of integrity is the root cause of people changing their minds about promises they have made without care. When we have decided to dwell in the light of God, and wade off the darkness around, we would be slower to make promises and when we do, we would be quicker to fulfil such promise and never back off even if it costs us. We have become like politicians in our little corners and “world”, making sweet promises and not keeping them. We need to shine our light in this area as well. So many young men are promising marriage only to deceive sisters and, thereafter, running away after eating a part of the forbidden cherry. They want to enjoy the benefit of delivery before they make payment even when deep down, they have no intention of keeping the package or paying for same. *DAILY DEW 18/SEPTEMBER/2023* *Dare To Be A Person Of Integrity* (III) _Key Bible Text:_ *"Don't hurt your friend, don't blame your neighbor."* (Psalms 15:3 (The Message)) _Bible Insight:_ 2. Doing no wrong to your friend & spreading no rumour about your neighbours. Integrity demands that you do to others what you would love them to do to you. Integrity demands that you treat others how you will have them treat you. When you treat others wrongly, it shows that you do not walk in integrity because you will preach against people treating others wrongly and yet you are doing so yourself. I read a headline recently and it was:- "Osinbajo Preaches Righteousness But Refuses To Condemn DSS' Continued Detention Of Sowore." When I took a closer look, the opening thoughts of the article were:- "Vice President Yemi Osinbajo says integrity and forthrightness are hallmarks of genuine Christians but he has refused to condemn the continued illegal detention of pro-democracy activist, Omoyele Sowore, by the Department of State Services. He also failed to berate the DSS for refusing to obey court orders granting Sowore's release." If you are conversant with the case of Sowore's arrest along with one of his followers, named Mandate, you will see where the writer of that article is coming from. You can see that doing no wrong to one's friend or even enemy is definitely a challenge of integrity. This link between treating others right and standing up for others rather than doing them wrong or watch wrong being meted out to them, when you are supposed to have some level of influence to make it right or at least condemn the act, is equally a matter of integrity. Likewise, spreading rumours about your neighbours is also doing wrong to such neighbours and, therefore, is an indication of a lack of integrity. We must do well to seriously review our conducts in the light of this challenge for integrity if we must sincerely walk in the light and fight off darkness. _MEDITATION:_ *"Lack of integrity is the root cause of people changing their minds about promises they have made without care. *DAILY DEW 17/SEPTEMBER/2023* *Dare To Be A Person Of Integrity* (II) _Key Bible Text:_ *"GOD, who gets invited to dinner at your place? How do we get on your guest list? "Walk straight, act right, tell the truth."* (Psalms 15:1-2 (The Message)) _Bible Insight:_ 1. Doing what is right and speaking words that are true and sincere. Anytime you fail to do what is right, it is a matter of integrity. Speaking words you know is not true nor sincere is a sign of a deficiency of integrity. This is very serious and it is a challenge we all must accept if we are serious about dwelling and walking before the God of light in whom there is no shadow of turning or any iota of darkness. How dare we claim to be sons of God, but follow the example of the children or disciples of the devil, the father of liars and all lies?! The devil is always the mastermind of lies. Any lie at all, cannot be white or black. There is never a good lie. Lying is the trademark of the devil. You see this when Peter rebuked Ananias. He identified Satan as the master who filled Ananias with lies. But Peter said, Ananias, why hath Satan filled thine heart to lie to the Holy Ghost, and to keep back part of the price of the land? – Acts 5:3 (KJV) Anything the devil is involved in will definitely have lies or deceit in it. The devil can transform into an angel of light just to deceive. Anytime you are in a lie or being deceived or deceiving, you are walking in darkness to that extent. _MEDITATION:_ *"Little wonder Jesus said we must be sure that the light in us is not darkness.
