But anyone who has been forgiven for only a little will show only a little love."* (Luke 7:44-46 (CEV)) _Bible Insight:_ Don’t worry about what the lukewarm think of your passionate worship for Jesus. Judas represents the lukewarm person who’s been following Jesus for a little while but allowed their heart to grow cold and bitter. Mary represents the passionate lover of Jesus who will pour out everything on Him. When Mary poured out her oil of worship over Jesus, Judas was convicted and lashed out. He had to come face to face with the condition of his heart. Mary didn’t say a word to him. All she did was pour out her worship on Jesus, and that alone convicted Judas. When Judas rebuked Mary, she ignored him and continued to worship Jesus. We must not allow the opinion of the lukewarm to affect the way we worship Jesus. It’s all about Him, not them! *DAILY DEW 5/SEPTEMBER/2023* *Compliance:not its appearance* _Key Bible Text:_ *"But to the wicked I say: "You don't have the right to mention my laws or claim to keep our agreement! You refused correction and rejected my commands. You made friends with every crook you met, and you liked people who break their wedding vows. You talked only about violence and told nothing but lies; you sat around gossiping, ruining the reputation of your own relatives." When you did all of this, I didn't say a word, and you thought, "God is just like us!" But now I will accuse you."* (Psalms 50:16-21(CEV)) _Bible Insight:_ Christian devotion must progress from questions like... "Have I read my Bible today?" to questions like... "Do I have a Biblical worldview concerning the current issue"? "Does my current opinion, action and approach affirm the authority of the Bible"? "Are my choices, preferences, and reactions sourced from the scriptures "? Bible reading that doesn't translate to Bible living will only make us hardened against God and immune to the grieving of the Spirit. And we must do the same about prayers. Our conscience should not be satisfied with "At least I've prayed today" Our words and speech must affirm that our conversation with a Holy God is potent enough to enforce clean speech. Our lives must be lived constantly in the presence of the God we pray to. Our attitude, behavior, and mannerisms must affirm that we often speak to God and such fellowship consistently produces Godliness. *DAILY DEW 4/SEPTEMBER/2023* *The wise man's foolishness* (II) _Key Bible Text:_ *"Solomon loved many foreign women. Besides the daughter of the king of Egypt he married Hittite women and women from Moab, Ammon, Edom, and Sidon. He married them even though the LORD had commanded the Israelites not to intermarry with these people, because they would cause the Israelites to give their loyalty to other gods.."* (1 Kings 11:1-2(GNB)) _Bible Insight:_ Solomon married seven hundred princesses and also had three hundred concubines. They made him turn away from God, and by the time he was old they had led him into the worship of foreign gods. He was not faithful to the LORD his God, as his father David had been. (1 Kings 11:3-4) Solomon's wisdom finally ended in foolishness. Sadly. Unfortunately, most time wise people or supposedly wise people end up veering off from the path of wisdom. Romans 1:22 captures it well: *"Professing themselves to be wise, they became fools"* Solomon is like many people today too. Most people begin well. But few stay true to the end. Despite Solomon's acclaimed wisdom, he still missed it unfortunately. Nothing cancels wisdom like self sufficiency that advises trust in one's ideas over and above God's clear cut instructions. Indeed, it is a case of surrendering our ideas and opinions to God and standing firmly by God's instructions. Any wisdom that disobeys God's word is foolishness in disguise perhaps. This lesson is not really about Solomon. It is actually about you. Everyday you are faced with options to either stand with Gods word obediently or reason it off, rationalize the issue and choose to do something contrary to God's word either because it was either more convenient or most profitable on the short run. You had better obey God. It is foolishness to think you are wise enough to attempt to disobey God and go scot free. _MEDITATION:_ *Remember, God knows too much for us to think that we can disobey him and end up proving God wrong! *DAILY DEW 3/SEPTEMBER/2023* *The wise man's foolishness* _Key Bible Text:_ *"The king is not to have a large number of horses for his army, and he is not to send people to Egypt to buy horses, because the LORD has said that his people are never to return there. The king is not to have many wives, because this would make him turn away from the LORD; and he is not to make himself rich with silver and gold."* (Deuteronomy 17:16-17(GNB)) _Bible Insight:_ When Moses was getting set to depart and hand over to Joshua, he provided copious and detailed instructions to guide the people of God. The book of Deuteronomy contains a good summary of those instructions Moses gave them. Part of what he gave them instructions and commands included the King they can have over them. In Chapter 17 of Deuteronomy some very clear demands were laid down:- 1. He must be from Israel 2. He must not accumulate horses especially horses from Egypt-- he must never go back there or make Israelites to go there. 3. He must not multiply wives unto himself-- he would risk losing his allegiance and worship of the living God If he falls into marrying many wives. 4. He was to keep a copy of the word of God, read it all his life,and ensures he fears, honor and obey God all his life. This fourth instructions came with a promise. *"When he becomes king, he is to have a copy of the book of God's laws and teachings made from the original copy kept by the levitical priests. He is to keep this book near him and read from it all his life, so that he will learn to honor the LORD and to obey faithfully everything that is commanded in it. This will keep him from thinking that he is better than other Israelites and from disobeying the LORD's commands in any way. Then he will reign for many years, and his descendants will rule Israel for many generations."* Deuteronomy 17:18-20 _MEDITATION:_ *What has God required of you as a Christian? Have you found out? But you deserve to suffer if you are a murderer, a thief, a crook, or a busybody. Don't be ashamed to suffer for being a Christian. Praise God that you belong to him."* (1 Peter 4:14-16(CEV)) _Bible Insight:_ Some of the ideologies or myths that stand against making a positive difference are--- A. If you cannot beat them, join them:- If you succumb to this slogan you cannot make a positive difference. Rather say, if you cannot beat them, continue to be the one that gives a credible alternative. So that tomorrow, someone else will not say "if you can't beat them join them" Instead, they can at least have an option to join you! So I say, if you cannot beat them, show others who don't want to join them, how they can do it! B. Everyone is doing it:-- No, everyone is not doing it. Majority may be doing it, but it is okay to be the lone, moral/upright minority. Contentment and godliness is a great gain! Don't trade it. C. You will suffer for nothing:-- It is not true. Those who fall for everything don't have value. Those who bend just because they cannot suffer for what they believe, are actually not worth following. Be able to suffer for what you believe, if you must suffer for it. It is not "nothing". It Is big deal to stand by your convictions and suffer for what you believe to be right. Jesus made a real difference when he suffered for what he didn't do just because he wanted to save the whole world, and that is you and I too. But the people of the world are yet to accept his sacrifice hence the need to continue to preach the gospel amid attacks, criticism, indiference, etc To make matters worse many who claim to be believers are nothing but enemies of the cross and cause of Christ....why? Because By their conducts, they actually make a mess of the name of Christ and bring reproach. Shine your light in the midst of the moral and mental darkness of this world. *DAILY DEW 31/AUGUST/2023* *The Difference Maker* _Key Bible Text:_ *"Arise, shine; for thy light is come, and the glory of the LORD is risen upon thee. For, behold, the darkness shall cover the earth, and gross darkness the people: but the LORD shall arise upon thee, and his glory shall be seen upon thee.* (Isaiah 60:1-2 (KJV)) _Bible Insight:_ Making a difference is the make up of great people. Everyone who must become notable in life must be in the business of difference making. Not making a difference is the real definition of a failure. Don't ever be okay with not being felt in any place you find yourself. Making a positive difference.... There are positive and negative differences one can make, but there are more positive differences calling to be made than there are negative... You must learn to desire to make a positive difference. In seeking to make a positive difference, always remember that bad news travel faster. This explain why a lot of messy and unhealthy things are popular, or should I say, notorious on social media. So between the positive difference and the negative difference, don't be surprised if negative difference travels faster, and makes more noise than the positive. Remember, your goal is not just to make the news but the positive (good) news. Don't be carried away by things that make more waves if they are not positive, God glorifying and edifying. In thd final analysis, however, the negatives don't make any difference. Rather, they add to the rot in the system. Today you hear someone who was some kind of celebrity or popular on social media has suddenly gone viral because they leaked a nude themselves Or you hear someone has committed murder (homicide), killing a sister or brother or wife or husband or children, etc... And these make the news but they actually only add to the rot in the system. The real deal is making a positive difference! For myself, I fear any kind of religious stir among Christians that does not lead to repentance and result in a sharp separation of the believer from the world. I am suspicious of any organized revival effort that is forced to play down the hard terms of the kingdom. No matter how attractive the movement may appear, if it is not founded in righteousness and nurtured in humility it is not of God. If it exploits the flesh it is a religious fraud and should not have the support of any God-fearing Christian. Only that is of God which honors the Spirit and prospers at the expense of the human ego. “That, according as it is written, He that glorieth, let him glory in the Lord” (1 Corinthians 1:31) The End. _MEDITATION:_ *Think of God as a Jealous God that He is. Organized amusements with their emphasis upon shallow pleasure, the great empires built upon vicious and unnatural habits, unrestrained abuse of normal appetites, the artificial world called “high society”— these are all of the world. They are all part of that which is flesh, which builds upon flesh and must perish with the flesh. And from these things the Christian must flee. All these he must put behind him and in them he must have no part. Against them he must stand quietly but firmly without compromise and without fear. So whether the world presents itself in its uglier aspects or in its subtler and more refined forms, we must recognize it for what it is and repudiate it bluntly. How can we explain the gross man-worship that habitually blows up one and another popular leader to the size of colossus? What about the obsequious hand-kissing of moneyed men by those purporting to be sound preachers of the gospel?
