_Key Bible Text:_
*"Blessed are the poor in spirit: for theirs is the kingdom of heaven. Blessed are they that mourn: for they shall be comforted."*
(Matthew 5:3-4 (KJV)
_Bible Insight:_
The ancient Pharisees, in spite of their zealous devotion to
religion, were of the very essence of the world.
The spiritual
principles upon which they built their system were drawn not
from above but from below. They employed against Jesus the
tactics of men. They bribed men to tell lies in defense of truth.
To defend God they acted like devils. To support the Bible
they defied the teachings of the Bible.
They scuttled religion to
save religion. They gave rein to blind hate in the name of the
religion of love. There we see the world in all of its grim
defiance of God. So fierce was this spirit that it never rested till
it had put to death the Son of God Himself.
The spirit of the
Pharisees was actively and maliciously hostile to the Spirit of
Jesus as each was a kind of distillation of the two worlds from
whence they came.
Those present-day teachers who place the Sermon on the
Mount in some other dispensation than this and so release the
Church from its teachings little realize the evil they do.
For the
Sermon on the Mount gives in brief the characteristics of the
kingdom of renewed men. The blessed poor who mourn for
their sins and thirst after righteousness are true sons of the
kingdom. In meekness they show mercy to their enemies; with guileless candor they gaze upon God; surrounded by persecutors they bless and curse not.
In modesty they hide
their good deeds. They go out of their way to agree with their
adversaries and forgive those who sin against them.
They
serve God in secret in the depth of their hearts and wait with patience for His open reward. They freely surrender their
earthly goods rather than use violence to protect them. They
lay up treasures in heaven. They avoid praise and wait for the
day of final reckoning to learn who is greatest in the kingdom
of heaven.
_MEDITATION:_
*"Do you believe the sermon on the mount? Or does its being above what's obtainable make you think it is outdated?."*

_Key Bible Text:_
*"And the world passeth away, and the lust thereof: but he that doeth the will of God abideth for ever."*
(1 John 2:17 (KJV)
_Bible Insight:_
The
question is not a theological one, What does this teach? It is a moral one, _Am I willing to accept this and abide by its consequences? Can I endure the cold stare? Have I the
courage to stand up to the slashing attack of the “liberal
Dare I invite the hate of men who will be affronted by my
attitude? Have I independence of mind sufficient to challenge
the opinions of popular religion and go along with an apostle?
Or briefly, can I bring myself to take up the cross with its blood
and its reproach?_
The Christian is called to separation from the world, but we
must be sure we know what we mean (or more important, what
God means) by the world.
We are likely to make it mean something external only and thus miss its real meaning. The
theater, cards, liquor, gambling—these are not the world; they
are merely an external manifestation of the world.
Our warfare is not against merely an external manifestation of the world. Our
warfare is not against mere worldly ways, but against the spirit
of the world. For man, whether he is saved or lost, is essentially
spirit.
The world, in the New Testament meaning of the word, is
simply unregenerate human nature wherever it is found,
whether in a tavern or in a church.
Whatever springs out of, is
built upon or receives support from fallen human nature is the
world, whether it is morally base or morally respectable.
_MEDITATION:_

understanding, I repeat, but of faith and obedience."*

_Key Bible Text:_
*"But the natural man receiveth not the things of the Spirit
of God: for they are foolishness unto him: neither can he
know them, because they are spiritually discerned."*
((1
Corinthians 2:14)
_Bible Insight:_
To a son of earth the things of the Spirit are either
ridiculous, in which case he is amused, or they are meaningless, in which case he is bored.
It is so much easier to blur the lines of
separation and so offend no one.
Pious generalities and the
use of we to mean both Christians and unbelievers is much
safer. The fatherhood of God can be stretched to include
everyone from Jack the Ripper to Daniel the Prophet. Thus no
one is offended and everyone feels quite snug and ready for heaven.
John the beloved Apostle, drew a line to divide the race of men into two camps, to separate the saved from the lost, those who shall
rise to eternal reward from them that shall sink to final despair.
On one side are they that know not God; on the other ye (or
with a change of person, we), and between the two is a moral
gulf too wide for any man to cross. Here is the way John states
it:
Ye are of God, little children, and have overcome them:
because greater is he that is in you, than he that is in the
world. They are of the world: therefore speak they of the world, and the world heareth them. We are of God: he that
knoweth God heareth us; he that is not of God heareth not
us. Hereby know we the spirit of truth, and the spirit of
error. (1 John 4:4-6)
Such language as this is too plain to confuse anyone who
honestly wants to know the truth.

*Resisting The Unholy Romance* (III)
_Key Bible Text:_
*"And have no fellowship with the unfruitful works of darkness, but rather reprove them."*
(Ephesians 5:11 (KJV))
_Bible Insight:_
The difficulty we modern Christians face is not misunderstanding the Bible, but persuading our untamed
hearts to accept its plain instructions.
Our problem is to get the
consent of our world-loving minds to make Jesus Lord in fact
as well as in word. For it is one thing to say, “Lord, Lord,†and
quite another thing to obey the Lord’s commandments.
We
may sing, “Crown Him Lord of All,†and rejoice in the tones of
the loud-sounding organ and the deep melody of harmonious
voices, but still we have done nothing until we have left the
world and set our faces toward the city of God in hard practical
reality.
When faith becomes obedience then it is true faith
indeed.
The world’s spirit is strong, and it clings to us as close as
the smell of smoke to our garments.
The world can change its face to
suit any circumstance and so deceive many a simple Christian
whose senses are not exercised to discern good and evil.
The world can
play at religion with every appearance of sincerity. It can have
fits of conscience (particularly during Lent) and even confess
its evil ways in the public press.
The world will praise religion and fawn
on the Church for its ends. The world will contribute to charitable
causes and promote campaigns to furnish clothing for the
poor. Only let Christ keep His distance and never assert His Lordship over it.
This it will positively not endure. And toward
the true Spirit of Christ it will show only antagonism. The
world’s press (which is always its real mouthpiece) will seldom
give a child of God a fair deal. If the facts compel a favorable
report, the tone is apt to be condescending and ironic. The
note of contempt sounds through.
_MEDITATION:_
*"Both the sons of this world and the sons of God have been
baptized into a spirit, but the spirit of the world and the Spirit which dwells in the hearts of twice-born men are as far apart as
heaven and hell. Not only are they the complete opposite of
each other but they are sharply antagonistic to each other as
well."*

*Resisting The Unholy Romance* (II)
_Key Bible Text:_
*"If the world hate you, ye know that it hated me before it
hated you. If ye were of the world, the world would love
his own: but because ye are not of the world, but I have
chosen you out of the world, therefore the world hateth
you."*
(John 15:18-19)
_Bible Insight:_
That terrible zone of confusion so evident in the whole life of
the Christian community could be cleared up in one day if the followers of Christ would begin to follow Christ instead of each other. For our Lord was very plain in His teaching about the
believer and the world.
Paul explained to the Galatians the difference between the
bond child and the free: “But as then he that was born after the
flesh persecuted him that was born after the Spirit, even so it is
now†(Galatians 4:29).
So throughout the entire New Testament a sharp line is
drawn between the Church and the world. There is no middle
ground. The Lord recognizes no good-natured “agreeing to
disagree†so that the followers of the Lamb may adopt the world’s ways and travel along the world’s path.
The gulf
between the true Christian and the world is as great as that
which separated the rich man and Lazarus. And furthermore it
is the same gulf, that is, it is the gulf that divides the world of
ransomed from the world of fallen men.
I well know and feel deeply, how offensive such teaching as
this must be to the great flock of worldlings which mills around
the traditional sheepfold.
The confused religionists seek to make
themselves sheep by association. But we may as well face the
hard truth that men do not become Christians by associating
with church people, nor by religious contact, nor by religious
education; they become Christians only by invasion of their
nature by the Spirit of God in the new birth. And when they do
thus become Christians they are immediately members of a new
race, a chosen generation, a royal priesthood, an holy nation, and a peculiar people!
_MEDITATION:_
*"But ye are a chosen generation, a royal priesthood, an holy nation, a peculiar people; that ye should shew forth the praises of him who hath called you out of darkness into his marvellous light."* (1 Peter 2:9 (KJV))

*Resisting The Unholy Romance*
_Key Bible Text:_
*"Examine yourselves, whether ye be in the faith; prove
your own selves. Know ye not your own selves, how that
Jesus Christ is in you, except ye be reprobates? "*
(2
Corinthians 13:5)
_Bible Insight:_
The Christian faith, based upon the New Testament, teaches
the complete antithesis (direct opposite) between the Church and the world.
The trouble
with us today is that we have tried to bridge the gulf between
two opposites, the world and the Church, and have performed
an illicit marriage for which there is no biblical authority.
Actually no real union between the world and the Church is
possible. When the Church joins up with the world it is the true
Church no longer but only a pitiful hybrid thing, an object of
smiling contempt to the world and an abomination to the Lord.
The decline and degeneration in which many (or should we say most?)
believers walk today is not caused by any vagueness on the part of the Bible.
Nothing could be clearer than the
pronouncements of the Scriptures on the Christian’s relation to
the world. The confusion which gathers around this matter
results from the unwillingness of professing Christians to take
the Word of the Lord seriously.
Christianity is so entangled
with the world that millions never guess how radically they have missed the New Testament pattern. Compromise is
everywhere.
The world is whitewashed just enough to pass
inspection by blind men posing as believers, and those same
believers are everlastingly seeking to gain acceptance with the
world. By mutual concessions men who call themselves Christians manage to get on with men who have for the things
of God nothing but quiet contempt.
_MEDITATION:_
*"But ye are not in the flesh, but in the Spirit, if so be that
the Spirit of God dwell in you. Now if any man have not
the Spirit of Christ, he is none of his."* (Romans 8:9)

*How to Hear God’s Voice*
_Key Bible Text:_
*"My sheep hear my voice, and I know them, and they follow me."*
(John 10:27 (KJV))
_Bible Insight:_
1. Get into God’s word to hear His voice.
If you want to hear God’s voice, study His word.
2. The Spirit Speaks.
Spiritual preparation and active participation are required to hear the Spirit. The Holy Spirit speaks through impressions, promptings, and suggestions, bringing things to remembrance.
3. God’s voice is hidden in God’s wisdom.
God’s ways are in line with God’s wisdom.
4. Pay attention to peace.
5. Lower the noise.
When we lower the noise we can hear His voice.
6. Unmute God.
You can’t hear God’s voice today if you didn’t heed His voice yesterday! Repent for disobedience and start obeying the last thing God told to do.
7. Write down vivid dreams.
8. Don’t neglect prophecies.
The prophet of God does not replace my need to hear from God. Neither does our hearing from God replace our need for the prophet of God.
_MEDITATION:_
*"And when he putteth forth his own sheep, he goeth before them, and the sheep follow him: for they know his voice. And a stranger will they not follow, but will flee from him: for they know not the voice of strangers."* John 10:4-5 (KJV)

*Jesus did not save you online*
_Key Bible Text:_
*"Everyone who believes that Jesus is the Christ has become a child of God. And everyone who loves the Father loves his children, too."*
(1 John 5:1)
_Bible Insight:_
Woke up late - online service
Had a long week - online service
They plan to protest - online service
Elections being conducted - online service
Someone blocked your car - online service
You have too many things to do - online service
You need to arrange some things - online service
Saturday was lit - online service
Wind starts blowing - online service
Rain fell - online service
You dreamt that rain fell - online service
I don't mean watching service online is a sin. It is not. Especially when you have no choice; but when you do?
Ahn ahn!
Jesus did not save you online. He came all the way down here. And the Word became flesh, and dwelt among us. He became like you, and died for you.
Fall in love nau. Fall in love with the imperfect Body of the One who died to give you Life, and a Hope, and an Inheritance.
C'mon! Where is your love; your passion; your belonging; your longing; your commitment; your devotion - to the Body of Christ?
Can you be a true believer without it?
1 Thessalonians 2:17-18
As for us, brothers and sisters, when, for a short time, we were made orphans by being separated from you--in person, not in heart--we longed with great eagerness to see you face to face. For we wanted to come to you--certainly I, Paul, wanted to again and again--but Satan blocked our way.
NO. It is not possible. Before, Satan might have been blocking your way, but now, you yourself have become the block. Even the ice block
Any small thing; church fellowship is the first thing you cancel.
Stop it. Repent. Return to your first love.
What will you say to the Lord when that Indonesian church says "Despite the flood in 2014...." or that church in Delta says "Despite the flood in 2017, we did not forsake the gathering of Your people"
What will you say when members of Ekklesia Yan'uwa a church in Maiduguri which was demolished in 2021 with several injured and one killed and that Sunday they still held full service - what will you say when they say "Lord, we did not forsake the gathering of the brethren?"
Please, wake up.
_MEDITATION:_

*Not Salty; Not Sacrifice*
_Key Bible Text:_
*"And every oblation of thy meat offering shalt thou season with salt; neither shalt thou suffer the salt of the covenant of thy God to be lacking from thy meat offering: with all thine offerings thou shalt offer salt."*
(Leviticus 2:13 (KJV))
_Bible Insight:_
I agree with Pastor Vlad on this:
*"Salt is a good metaphor for Christian conversation and behavior."*
🧂*"Salt improves taste; in the same way, what believers say and do should leave a “good taste†for others."*
🧂 *"Salt also preserves food; Christians should influence others for eternity with their grace-filled lives. Saints, be salty!"*
But let's connect it with scriptures. God told his people, Israel and by extension, his people today, including you and I -- *"with all thine offerings thou shalt offer salt"* No offering will be accepted by God if it has no salt.
Romans 12:1 (KJV) connects the dots further: *"I beseech you therefore, brethren, by the mercies of God, that ye PRESENT your bodies a LIVING SACRIFICE, holy, acceptable unto God, which is your reasonable service."*
We do this presentation of ourselves as living sacrifices as we live a salty lifestyle-- Romans 12:2 (KJV) puts it clearly *"And be not conformed to this world: but be ye transformed by the renewing of your mind, that ye may prove what is that good, and acceptable, and perfect, will of God."*
The salty lifestyle calls for non-conformist standards and values. We can't be salty if we conform & subscribe to the wordly principles, standards and views around us. Rather, we must put a stop to decadence and degeneration as salt does.
We must improve the taste of things around us for good and for God's glory, even as we bring eternal values to bear! As we let our *"light so shine before men, that they may see your good works, and glorify your Father which is in heaven."* (Matthew 5:16 (KJV))
_MEDITATION:_
*"Ye are the salt of the earth: but if the salt have lost his savour, wherewith shall it be salted? it is thenceforth good for nothing, but to be cast out, and to be trodden under foot of men!"* Matthew 5:13 (KJV)

*HOW TO LAST* (III)
_Key Bible Text:_
*"Then said the LORD unto Moses, Behold, I will rain bread from heaven for you; and the people shall go out and gather a certain rate every day, THAT I MAY PROVE THEM, WHETHER THEY WILL WALK IN MY LAW, OR NO."*
(Exodus 16:4 (KJV))
_Bible Insight:_
After they murmured, again we will notice that God seemed to overlook their response style one more time instead we read as follows:-
*"Then said the LORD unto Moses, Behold, I will rain bread from heaven for you; and the people shall go out and gather a certain rate every day, THAT I MAY PROVE THEM, WHETHER THEY WILL WALK IN MY LAW, OR NO."* Exodus 16:4
God is more interested in seeing how committed you are in walking with Him in his word and will!
Even when God blesses us inspite of us, his blessings are not a confirmation that we are doing well, but rather a test whether we will recognize his goodness and reciprocate his faithfulness.
Sometimes, God will rather examine or test your faith and commitment with blessings rather than allowing satan to afflict you like Job.
It is how you use your blessings that shows whether you will last in the faith or fall out.
If both your blessings & your problems bring you closer to God, you are preparing yourself to last in this race.
Practice consistently believing God and walking in obedience to God. Don't be like the Israelites who saw the wonders of God, and were fearful and grateful but who could not sustain that experience in their walk with God.
How you continue with God, is more important than how you begin with God. Be conscious of lasting in your transformative experiences with God.
_MEDITATION:_
*"You can loose the transformation experience if you don't stay conscious of continuing in your disciplines of walking with God!"*
