*DAILY DEW 10/JUNE/2023* *SERIOUS SALVATION* (V) _Key Bible Text:_ *"Some godless people have sneaked in among us and are saying, "God treats us much better than we deserve, and so it is all right to be immoral." THEY EVEN DENY THAT WE MUST OBEY JESUS CHRIST AS OUR ONLY MASTER AND LORD. But long ago the Scriptures warned that these godless people were doomed."* Jude 1:4 (CEV) _Bible Insight:_ The issue of the Lordship of Jesus is sometimes not appreciated and emphasized enough as much as we call or use the term "Lord Jesus"! Many are unconsciously denying the Lordship of Jesus. The act is subtly but surely happening in many corners among practicing believers. This act did not start today. Right from when Jesus was in ministry personally, many were guilty of this. Jesus himself rebuked some fellows thus, *"And why call ye me, Lord, Lord, and do not the things which I say?"* in Luke 6:46. This challenge has grown much worse over the years and in these last days, it has become remarkably huge but conversely seldomly addressed. When we chant and shout and chorus and sing "Lord Jesus" but do little or nothing to follow it up with the necessary lifestyle, obedience and attitude towards God and His word then we are *"Having a form of godliness, but denying the power thereof."* And we are warned to avoid and *"from such turn away."* (2 Timothy 3:5) Any believer who does not apply the Word of God is guilty of rejecting the Lordship of Jesus. You can fully accept Jesus as your saviour while fully denying Him as your Lord. But this error is one we are warned to avoid as it comes with dire consequences. 2 Peter 2:1 warns those who are *"even denying the Lord that bought them, and bring upon themselves swift destruction."* We cannot take the benefits of salvation while rejecting the obligations of salvation. Selah! _MEDITATION:_ *Anyone who comes and listens to me and obeys me is like someone who dug down deep and built a house on solid rock. When the flood came and the river rushed against the house, it was built so well that it didn't even shake. But anyone who hears what I say and doesn't obey me is like someone whose house wasn't built on solid rock. *DAILY DEW 8/JUNE/2023* *SERIOUS SALVATION* (III) _Key Bible Text:_ *"For there are certain men crept in unawares, who were before of old ordained to this condemnation, ungodly men, turning the grace of our God into lasciviousness, and denying the only Lord God, and our Lord Jesus Christ."* (Jude 1:4 (KJV)) _Bible Insight:_ There is no smoke without fire, goes an English adage. There are reasons every child of God is commanded to contend for the faith. No one will see fire break out in their house, and will sit back and say it is the Lord's doing. Rather, they will get to work to put it out as much as lies in them, or save what is left. When Jude wrote that we contend for the faith, one of the reasons he cited was that *"For there are certain men crept in unawares"* Focus on the the 'certain men'! It takes men to contend for the faith against men! We are not only contending for the faith against spirit beings. We are contending for the faith, also because of the activities of spirit being but through men whom such spirits have possessed, whether or not such men are aware they are being used. But the key thing is that, there are certain men who crept into the system. Pls note that Jude didn't even talk about contending against those who are OUTSIDE, but those men who CREPT IN. How? Unawares! In other words, surreptitiously or "Nicodemusly". You can only confront insiders more than outsiders. Outsiders will be outsiders; but insiders can be confronted. But how? _MEDITATION:_ *What has happened is that some people have infiltrated our ranks (our Scriptures warned us this would happen), who beneath their pious skin are shameless scoundrels. *DAILY DEW 7/JUNE/2023* *SERIOUS SALVATION* (II) _Key Bible Text:_ *"Dear friends, although I was very eager to write to you about the salvation we share, I felt compelled to write and urge you to contend for the faith that was once for all entrusted to God's holy people."* (Jude 1:3 (NIV)) _Bible Insight:_ "I seriously want to write about this wonderful plan of God's salvation but I find myself instead writing that you seriously strive and defend the faith of the Lord Jesus Christ." One way to look at Jude 1:3 is that contending for the faith is a great part of our salvation. Another way to look at it, is that, he wanted to write about salvation, but in the process the Spirit led him to rather address the issue of advocating and defending the faith. Whichever way is still fine. The vital point remains that we must strive to advance the course of the faith of Jesus Christ. But again, if you consider this issue a little more, you wonder if you can really claim to be saved, which is to have faith in Jesus, and not become serious about defending the same faith in Jesus. Furthermore, we must ponder on the mutuality of salvation. I don't want to use the word "common" because in reality, Jude did not mean "common" the way you may be tempted to see it. He was not putting so much diligence to write about a common, ordinary or mundane and not special salvation. Far from it. "Common" here means "mutual" or *"shared by, coming from, or done by two or more people, groups, or things."* This salvation we have in Christ is one that is communal. We don't have it exclusive of other believers. We have it together with all who are saved. God's desire for salvation is to raise a people, His people. He wants to raise many sons to glory. Hallelujah. _MEDITATION:_ So all by yourself, you are too small for God. God will and wants to have more sons, more disciples. His desire is that all who come to Christ will share in His glorious plan of salvation and in this plan, he wants us all to ensure as many as possible take benefit or advantage of His plan for salvation, for it is not the will of God for anyone to perish but that all may come to repentance, and by extension, salvation! Are you?" "But while I was getting set to settle into serious discussion of our mutual salvation, it became very clear to me, that the greatest part of this issue of salvation I need to address is how we must defend it, passionately and seriously." Hmmmmmmm Have you seen how Jude in writing about this subject of salvation, so gave himself to the leading of the Spirit? It is important that when we broach or approach anything, we allow the Holy Spirit to lead us. As he considered the subject it was pressed hard upon him to first *"exhort you that ye should earnestly contend for the faith."* In other words, when we are dealing with the subject of salvation, a vital part of salvation, is not just something we thank God for and sit back and relax our spiritual benefits. *DAILY DEW 5/JUNE/2023* *MERCY, PEACE & LOVE* _Key Bible Text:_ *"Mercy unto you, and peace, and love, be multiplied."* (Jude 1:2 (KJV)) _Bible Insight:_ WHAT can one ever achieve without mercy, peace and love? Absolutely nothing. When Jude was writing, he had to place these three as a prayer-greeting. It is like saying, GOOD morning but in this case, Mercy Morning, Peace Morning and Love Morning. These three -- mercy, peace and love-- were so heavy in the head and heart of Jude that he had to pray for their MULTIPLICATION, rather than just simple addition. As a daily requirement, mercy, peace and love is that essential spiritual supplement that is totally vital to growth, prosperity and exploits in this kingdom. Without mercy, there can be no forgiveness of sins, which helps us secure peace with God, which is a further proof of God's love. At the same time, when we have experienced God's mercy and peace, we are bound to express more love for God, because we love him because he first loved us. Now imagine, all the delicious goodness of mercy, peace and love. Imagine when these three are now multiplied. IN These lies the secret of everything fruitful and remarkable in this Kingdom:- when we live in the presence of multiplied mercy, peace and love. *DAILY DEW 3/JUNE/2023* *GROWTH DEMANDS TRAINING* (IV) _Key Bible Text:_ *"As they ministered to the Lord, and fasted, the Holy Ghost said, Separate me Barnabas and Saul for the work whereunto I have called them. And when they had fasted and prayed, and laid their hands on them, they sent them away."* (Acts 13:2-3 (KJV)) _Bible Insight:_ Don't put yourself under any kind of pressure. If you have not properly trained men to be effective pastors, you have no business opening new centres. God CANNOT LEAD YOU TO DO IT. Stop deceiving yourself! When the Lord told me in late 2019, that He will soon require us to begin to spread at The Edification House, the next thing I did was to put a better structure of training in place to further prepare the men I have been training hitherto to become much more effective. By the time it was time to spread, we were ready. The men who would handle all the things needed at every level were ready. There's no pressure anywhere! Now, the catch here is that about five years ago, I ALMOST made a fatal mistake that would have adversely affected what we do today. I was going to appoint people into certain positions, but the Lord wouldn't let me do it. I didn't quite get why, because everyone seemed "fine" to me. I eventually had to drop it and just kept doing what I was doing. It was as the days unfolded, that it became clear why God restrained me, and all I could do was lift my hands in thanksgiving to God. If you do things in a hurry, you will regret it. The work of ministry is a not a copy-copy thing. It's not a but-we-are-colleagues thing. There are things you CANNOT copy if you don't have TRAINED MEN to run it. If not, hypertension will kill you. And that's not a figurative statement. The years are very long. You are in this thing for decades. Focus on the training, and the increase will come. I know that doing that wants to make it appear as though things are slow, but dear sir, whatever will be built to last cannot be built in a hurry. If you chase the numbers without raising the men, you will eventually betray proper apostolic doctrine and practice. We have big dreams for the gospel in our local church, but we are doing it with no pressure. We are strengthening our discipleship structure and training and raising more leaders, so that when the crowd begins to troop in, we don't start convening emergency meetings on what to do. *DAILY DEW 2/JUNE/2023* *GROWTH DEMANDS TRAINING* (III) _Key Bible Text:_ *"Then the twelve called the multitude of the disciples unto them, and said, It is not reason that we should leave the word of God, and serve tables. Wherefore, brethren, look ye out among you seven men of honest report, full of the Holy Ghost and wisdom, whom we may appoint over this business."* (Acts 6:2-3 (KJV)) _Bible Insight:_ God doesn't just want to add more men to you just so your building can be full; He wants men trained. If He knows that you don't have the men and the structure to make that happen, I put it to you, that God will only keep bringing them in trickles, in accordance with what you can handle at the moment. And if that doesn't satisfy you, then you would have to resort to all manner of gimmick, then you'll lose yourself, and there you are...doing all the things you had said you'd never do. So heed this counsel. Do what you must do, within proper scriptural boundaries. Ensure your local church is missions-minded. Be an evangelising church. Stay praying. Believe God for increase. But by all means, FOCUS ON THE TRAINING. Your primary attention must be on raising men who are trained enough to effectively disciple others. Pour all your energy into it. If you are evangelising, and you are praying, the people will come, first in trickles, then eventually in troops. It will happen! The few people that God is adding to you should be discipled by the few men you have trained. That's how the number of trained hands that you have will continue to increase. Steadily. *DAILY DEW 1/JUNE/2023* *GROWTH DEMANDS TRAINING* (II) _Key Bible Text:_ *"Then they that gladly received his word were baptized: and the same day there were added unto them about three thousand souls. And they continued stedfastly in the apostles' doctrine and fellowship, and in breaking of bread, and in prayers."* (Acts 2:41-42 (KJV)) _Bible Insight:_ If your desire for numerical increase agrees in intent with God's desire, then your FOCUS will be on ensuring that you have PROPERLY TRAINED men who will ensure that this discipleship is effectively done. If you neglect this, and just keep going after increase, then clearly, you want increase for ulterior, selfish, and carnal reasons. We are often swift to make reference to the addition of 3,000 souls to the church on the day of Pentecost (Acts 2:41), and the eventual increase to 5,000 men (Acts 4:4), and the steady increase from there upward. We want the same. Don't we? After all, it's the same Spirit at work then, who is at work now. But here is something we probably have not properly thought about. According to Luke's account, there were about 120 DISCIPLES gathered together upon Jesus' ascension, awaiting the outpouring of the Spirit (Acts 1:15). Paul puts the number of disciples that Jesus appeared to at 500 (1Corinthians 15:6). Now, think about it. If all they had was 120 properly trained men, that would be ratio 25 new converts to 1 discipler. If we go with 500 trained men, that puts it at 6:1. Point is, they had already trained hands to handle the discipling of that influx of multitudes. The eventual outcome of that is seen in Acts 6:7 *..."the word of God increased, and the number of DISCIPLES MULTIPLIED GREATLY in Jerusalem...."* The platform for discipleship was set and thus, the new converts were well discipled. So, I ask you, dear Man of God/disciple/believer, how many men have you trained today who can EFFECTIVELY disciple those multitudes you want to see come in? There is no Pastor/church worker I know, who aggressively went after the numbers without prioritizing the training of the men to handle it, who did not compromise on proper discipleship process and who did not suffer a leadership crisis. *DAILY DEW 31/MAY/2023* *GROWTH DEMANDS TRAINING* (I) _Key Bible Text:_ *"And the things that thou hast heard of me among many witnesses, the same commit thou to faithful men, who shall be able to teach others also."* (2 Timothy 2:2 (KJV)) _Bible Insight:_ Focus on the training, the increase will come. Numerical increase in the local church is of God and is the will of God. The mandate is to disciple the nations, and the local church is how God gets this done. As we go out, evangelising the lost, it is God's will that the saved be brought into the local church to be taught and trained as ministers of Christ. Thus, there is no one whose mind is fixed on God's mandate on the earth who would speak low of or despise numerical increase in the local church. That said. It is pertinent to always fix our mind on the REASON God adds people to His church. The idea isn't JUST to have a populated church, but to have more people trained to become effective ministers of the gospel. Any numerical increase that doesn't translate into this has fallen woefully short of God's purpose and plan. This is the ONLY reason a pastor ought to desire numerical increase; any other reason cannot be inspired by the Spirit of God. People desire increase for many ridiculous fleshly reasons today. For some, they want to be called one of the fastest growing churches in town. For others, it is just to increase revenue. More people, more money. While for some, it is just the satisfaction of seeing a mammoth crowd before them while they preach. None of these should be THE REASON we desire numerical increase. Whatever our reason is will always reveal itself in HOW we go about our pursuit of God's desire to see more ministers trained and raised for the cause of His work. _MEDITATION:_ *Now, if TRULY the reason you want increase is because you want disciples multiplied, then you know that it takes TRAINED (faithful) MEN to multiply disciples. That is, for you to be able to properly train and raise people as ministers of the gospel, you must ALREADY HAVE well trained ministers, who will get the work done. If you have more people than you have TRAINED hands, then you will fail woefully to multiply disciples.
