*DAILY DEW 17/OCTOBER/2023* *The Underdogs' Advantage* _Key Bible Text:_ *"I returned, and saw under the sun, that the race is not to the swift, nor the battle to the strong, neither yet bread to the wise, nor yet riches to men of understanding, nor yet favour to men of skill; but time and chance happeneth to them all."* (Ecclesiastes 9:11 (KJV)) _Bible Insight:_ "A competitor thought to have little chance of winning a fight or contest" is described as an underdog. Well, I have goodnews. God is the God of the underdogs. Please I didn't say the lazy or the unserious. That is not the focus here. Let me begin with the loudest example of all times. Jesus can actually be described as an underdog. First, even from birth, he would have been born to a shamed and disgraced Mary, who could not possibly explain to a Joseph how she got pregnant but God stepped in. Next, he would have been destroyed along with several innocent male children below two years of age, but again, God stepped in. After that, he was to begin his ministry, and people began to question him, asking "Can anything good come out of Nazareth?" As if that was not enough, after three solid years of doing good to the poor and mighty of his day, he was to be tried by public opinion, and a hardened and notorious criminal won the election. Oh! What of his moment of trial; He was to be arrested, all his best friends cum disciples deserted him. And eventually he was crucified as a poor criminal along with two notorious criminals. He very much passes for an underdog. But glory to God, I am telling this story today because He is the Lord of Lords and the King of Kings who rose from the dead and liveth for ever more and at the mention of His name every knee bows and every tongue confesses that Jesus is Lord... *DAILY DEW 16/OCTOBER/2023* *THE SAFETY MEASURE OF REPETITION* _Key Bible Text:_ *"Finally, my brethren, rejoice in the Lord. To write the same things to you, to me indeed is not grievous, but for you it is safe."* (Philippians 3:1 (KJV)) _Bible Insight:_ When you bring back to your mouth the food particles you have already swallowed, you are said to have regurgitated. Pls don't feel irritated. When an animal, like ruminants regurgitate, there is however nothing out of place about it. "Ruminants regurgitate their food as a normal part of digestion." And the information continues, "During their idle time, they chew the regurgitated food (cud) and swallow it again, which increases digestibility by reducing particle size." This is actually something that explains what meditation does to knowledge assimilation, digestion and retention. This also explains why meditation leads to revelation, that is, a state of intense understanding of and insight into God's words with practical effects and relatable impact! Meditation, however, is not a one way practice. Most times we understand meditation to mean staying alone to ponder over a body of knowledge. While this is correct, it is not the only way of meditation. As a matter of fact, anytime the same body of knowledge is being repeated, there is a sense in which meditation is already taking place. When you sing a song repeatedly, there is a sense in which the truth contained therein is undergoing a meditation process in your mind, especially when you ponder on the words being sung. When you are listening to the same or similar message or even teaching it or discussing about it, you are actually regurgitating those body of knowledge and thereby enhancing comprehension and revelation. Never shy away from or get tired of hearing/teaching/discussing the same body of knowledge over and over again. That is the way of meditation. And that is the way of comprehension and revelation, needless to say, mastery. _MEDITATION:_ *Some of us learnt to listen to messages that blessed us till there was no edification left in the tapes. *DAILY DEW 15/OCTOBER/2023* *Connecting Men To Christ* _Key Bible Text:_ *"Be ye followers of me, even as I also am of Christ."* (1 Corinthians 11:1 (KJV)) _Bible Insight:_ The goal of ministry is to connect men to Christ. The goal of Christian growth is to live connected to Christ. The goal of evangelism is to reconnect men to Christ. The goal of discipleship is to groom men to live connected to Christ in all things and to teach them how to get others to live connected to Christ. Your connection to Christ is all that matters. This connection must be solid, strong and intact at all times. One of the things that threatens our connectivity to Christ is actually sin. When we indulge in sin, we have entered into an area of poor connection and therefore we suffer a temporary disconnect or loss of connectivity or some poor transmission of peace of mind, discernment or hearing from God, etc However, once we confess our sins and move back to sure grounds, we regain connectivity and enjoy unhindered connection once again. Your life must become a mobile WiFi or hotspot that gives men access to be reconnected to Christ connectivity. It is dangerous to indulge sinful activities that threatens to disconnect the flow of connectivity with Christ. *DAILY DEW 10/OCTOBER/2023* *TRUE TEST OF FOLLOWING JESUS* _Key Bible Text:_ *"And Jesus said unto them, Come ye after me, and I will make you to become fishers of men. And straightway they forsook their nets, and followed him."* (Mark 1:17-18 (KJV)) _Bible Insight:_ In the final analysis, the evidence of truly following Jesus, is actually fishing men! The opposite is also true. The absence of ability to fish for men is the evidence of lack of correct following of Jesus. You can't change this truth. You can only accept it or reject it but it is the truth nonetheless. Since you claimed to be a follower of Jesus, how many souls have you caught for His kingdom? Whereas some, like Simon & Andrew must leave their nets (which represented their day to day source of income) to become full time fishers of men. Others, however, only need to leave their nets temporarily but often to go fishing for men! The best is even to make your "nets" a type of bait for fishing men! I therefore agree with Pastor Ebele UzoPeters as follows: "Every Christian should learn how to desire to see souls saved. Every unsaved person is a mission field regardless of who they are. Our great quest is their salvation ABOVE ALL ELSE. Above celebrity status, influence, money, fashion, science, power. Whatever. The SOUL is what matters most. And without Jesus, it is NOTHING. *DAILY DEW 27/SEPTEMBER/2023* *Longsuffering* (V) _Key Bible Text:_ "*Howbeit for this cause I obtained mercy, that in me first Jesus Christ might shew forth all longsuffering, for a pattern to them which should hereafter believe on him to life everlasting."* (1 Timothy 1:16 (KJV)) _Bible Insight:_ God would never achieve his purpose for mankind without longsuffering. This is one key attribute of God. God suffers long with mankind. This is what helped Paul eventually transform from the persecutor of Christians to the preacher of Christ. As it with God, so it is with us-- without longsuffering, we will never achieve purpose or anything of worthwhile value. Longsuffering helps us stick to the pursuit of purpose. You keep doing what you know is right not because it is easy but because it is right. You keep walking and working towards living a life that pleases God. Longsuffering will make the difference between believers who will burn out, and fizzle out, and believers who will endure to the end and be saved. Longsuffering will make you shine in your business, or profession as you deal with all the difficult challenges that comes with it with grit and grace. Longsuffering is the attribute that will make a student stick to the demands of excellence through practice and laborious studies. Longsuffering is the quality that will keep couples working on getting it right in their marriage in a world that celebrates feminism and single parenthood. Longsuffering is the ingredient that will make you fit for purpose in the hands of God, so you can rise and live as light in a world of darkness where we hold forth the light of God.
