BOUNCE BACK (III)

*"And David comforted Bath-sheba his wife, and went in unto her, and lay with her: and she bare a son, and he called his name Solomon: and the LORD loved him."* (2 Samuel 12:24 (KJV))
_Bible Insight:_
When we fall as we will sometimes, we must rise up, pick up the lessons, and move on.
Sometimes, our fall will not be for wrong or poor decisions. Sometimes, our fall will be the result of the inexplicables of life. No matter what, the decision to pick up whatever lessons we can, and move on, must be made.
People don't fail in life because they suffered a momentary fall. People fail, because they dwelt in the past, they allowed whatever had happened, to become a permanent address instead of a temporary set back.
Quit the life of blame and regret. Accept the inevitables of life and brace up to ride on the storms and rise again.
If poor decisions, take us down, wise decisions, will take us up again, right from the same set of things designed to put us down. That is called, using the stones life throws at you, to build up the heap or edifice you stand upon.
Who would have thought that Bath-sheba will mother Solomon? Who would have thought that God who punished or disciplined David and Bath-sheba by allowing the death of the child born from adultery, will still allow them to have a son to take over from David?
I personally think it is because of how David handled the fall and God's judgment that made God, make it up for him.

BOUNCE BACK (II)
_Key Bible Text:_
*"But now he is dead, wherefore should I fast? can I bring him back again? I shall go to him, but he shall not return to me."* (2 Samuel 12:23 (KJV))
_Bible Insight:_
There is a part of life that will be hard and unpleasant. It is like they say, life is full of ups and downs. When those downs hit us, we must learn to brace up, and cheer up, again!
The servants of David were surprised to see the King, rise from his state of prayerful mourning. He had been seeking God's face to avert the death of the child. But that didn't happen. His officers were afraid to inform him that the child had finally died. They feared the King would lose it.
David surprised them. He simply rose up, showered and asked for his food. He took it in good faith and spirit. He manned up, he demonstrated courage and accepted the outcome.
Life will not always go as planned. As a matter of fact, life is a series of unplanned events which we must master and make the most of.

*DAILY DEW 11/FEBRUARY/2024*
BOUNCE BACK
_Key Bible Text:_
*"And he said, While the child was yet alive, I fasted and wept: for I said, Who can tell whether GOD will be gracious to me, that the child may live?"* (2 Samuel 12:22 (KJV))
_Bible Insight:_
Life will not always go our way. When the consequences of sin catches up with us, it is not a time to say "God why?", it is a time to say, "God you are still good!"
God is good and His judgments are always good. First, let's not assume the negative but we hold up till the very final outcome. David prayed with fastings to save the child but alas he must die. He knew it was God's judgment but yet he fasted in the hope that God's mercy will triumph over God's judgment.
This is unlike Eli. He heard of God's judgment, and all he could say was very unexpected: *"And Samuel told him every whit, and hid nothing from him. And he said, It is the LORD: let him do what seemeth him good."* (1 Samuel 3:18 (KJV))
When God reveals something negative, even if our hands or acts have brought it upon us, we should be like David, and first seek to provoke mercy in repentance, fastings and or prayers. God is merciful and He sees and knows all things.
Even when we must go through some difficult judgment from God, if we truly repent and seek His face fervently, God knows how to make it up for us.

DEALING WITH THE CONSEQUENCES OF SIN
_Key Bible Text:_
*"David therefore besought God for the child; and David fasted, and went in, and lay all night upon the earth."* (2 Samuel 12:16 (KJV))
_Bible Insight:_
David had received the judgment of God. The child that is born unto thee shall surely die. The Lord struck the child that Uriah's wife bare and it was very ill.
Yet, David besought the Lord for the child even with fasting and humility.
How we deal with the consequences of sin, is very important. Even though the child later died, God had taken note of David's attitude towards the issue.
In dealing with the consequences of sin, it is important to humble oneself and continue to seek the face of God for whatever consequences one sin may bring.
Even though God will ultimately decide how to answer the prayer, ð¨ð®ð« ð©ð«ðšð²ðžð« ð¢ð¬ ðš ðŸð®ð«ðð¡ðžð« ð¬ð¢ð ð§ ð¨ðŸ ð¨ð®ð« ð«ðžð©ðžð§ððšð§ðœðž ðšð§ð ððžð©ðžð§ððšð§ðœðž ð®ð©ð¨ð§ ð†ð¨ð.
After 7 days the child died, but David was sure he had done the will of God.
_MEDITATION:_
*Then David arose from the earth, and washed, and anointed himself, and changed his apparel, and came into the house of the LORD, and worshipped: then he came to his own house; and when he required, they set bread before him, and he did eat.* (2 Samuel 12:20 (KJV))

THE CONSEQUENCES (IV)
_Key Bible Text:_
*"This know also, that in the last days perilous times shall come. For men shall be lovers of their own selves, covetous, boasters, proud, BLASPHEMERS, disobedient to parents, unthankful, unholy,"* (2 Timothy 3:1-2 (KJV))
_Bible Insight:_
A blasphemer is one who speaks about God or the holy things of a particular religion in an offensive way. One of the reasons scripture prophesied that there will be more blasphemies and blasphemers in the last days is because there will be increase in iniquity.
In Matthew 24:12 (KJV) we are told that *"because iniquity shall abound, the love of many shall wax cold."* Some of these people whose love have waxed cold will be part of the people to increase the number of blasphemies and blasphemers.
It is important to therefore remember that the consequences of sin includes giving occasion for blasphemers to see "latest gist" to add to their blasphemous content.
When we know that this hurts God, we will understand why it attracted the death of the baby born to King David by Bathsheba. Therefore apart from other consequences that may be a fall out of sin, it brings disrespect and disrepute to the name of God. And our love for God must make us hate being the reason why God will be blasphemed.

THE CONSEQUENCES (II)
_Key Bible Text:_
*"Someone from your own family will cause you a lot of trouble, and I will take your wives and give them to another man before your very eyes. He will go to bed with them while everyone looks on."* (2 Samuel 12:11(CEV)
_Bible Insight:_
You can predict the consequence of sin, but you may not always predict the consequences that sin can bring.
The consequences of sin, depends on what wrong you have done. But at each point in time, and no matter how big or small the sin, the consequence of sin remains-- death!!
Howbeit, for King David, for instance, he definitely got more than he possibly bargained for.
*"You did it secretly; but I will do this thing before all Israel and in the light of the sun. And David said to Nathan, Great is my sin against the Lord. And Nathan said to David, The Lord has put away your sin; death will not come on you. But still, because you have had no respect for the Lord, death will certainly overtake the child who has newly come to birth."* 2 Samuel 12:12-14 (BBE)
David planted a seed that would eventually take off the Kingdom from David's descendants. Just one moment of being in lust, left a life time and post generational mark. Wow!!
_MEDITATION:_
*Be sure you live righteously. God's forgiveness is not in short supply but your life is. THE CONSEQUENCES
_Key Bible Text:_
*"Because you wouldn't obey me and took Uriah's wife for yourself, your family will never live in peace."* (2 Samuel 12:10(CEV)
_Bible Insight:_
"There are no consequences for sin when you repent of them"
That's not true. There are often consequences for sin but once you repent and are forgiven, you are delivered from the consequence of sin.
There is a difference between the CONSEQUENCES of sin, and the CONSEQUENCE of sin!
The consequence of sin is death! *"For the wages of sin is death"* That is the consequence of sin that you are freed from when you repent and receive forgiveness.
In the place of death, you are given access or eligibility for eternal life-- something you can't have any other way. *"But the gift of God is eternal life through Jesus Christ our Lord."* Romans 6:23 (KJV)
The consequences of sin, are the challenges and or unfavourable circumstances you may have to confront and deal with, because of your sinful conduct or lifestyle.
For David, his was quite serious. For some others, it may be less severe. And yet for some, it maybe nil or non existent depending on the issues involved.
In all, God's mercy can prevail but remember that God's mercy is subject to his overiding discretion. One maybe freed from the consequences of living an immoral life, by being delivered and healed from HIV aids contracted in the course of such sinful living. Another, may suffer the sickness till he dies, despite haven repented and being a dedicated child of God.

Be Good Because God Is!

*"... I kept you safe from Saul and even gave you his house and his wives. I let you rule Israel and Judah, and if that had not been enough, I would have given you much more. Why did you disobey me and do such a horrible thing? You murdered Uriah the Hittite by having the Ammonites kill him, so you could take his wife."* (2 Samuel 12:7-9(CEV)
_Bible Insight:_
The good things God allows you to experience, is for you to be good too. God doesn't appreciate it when we don't reciprocate his goodness and faithfulness.
The Apostles understood this, thus your hear them say, *"We love him, because he first loved us."* (1 John 4:19 (KJV))
We didn't do anything for God to love us, but we are expected to do everything to show that we appreciate His love afterwards.
The greatest sin of this world and the unbeliever, will remain the fact that Jesus died and rose for sin, yet they chose not to believe.
No matter how much or how little you think God has done for you, or not done, you owe God. And the more you realize this, the better for you. Because if you don't pay now, you will pay later but in a hard way-- very hard way!

Be Too Hard On Yourself!

*"And David's anger was greatly kindled against the man; and he said to Nathan, As the LORD liveth, the man that hath done this thing shall surely die"* 2 Samuel 12:5 (KJV)
_Bible Insight:_
Push yourself harder. Don't take it easy on yourself and take it hard on others. Judge yourself mercilessly but be nice on others.
1 Corinthians 11:31 (KJV) puts it this way, *"For if we would judge ourselves, we should not be judged."*
The essence is not necessarily to be wicked to yourself. The goal is to become a better version of yourself.
Naturally, human nature tends to pamper self, and 'pepper" others! This is man's default set up. Self discipline means reversing this trend or tendency.
Rather than always getting mad with others, and being soft and gentle on self, take the heat out on yourself. But be gentle on others.
This also plays out by expecting less from others, and more from yourself.
This is a "simple" fix for getting more out of life, achieving more, and being more relatable and easy to work with.

Godly & Wealthy

*"Now a traveller came to the house of the man of wealth, but he would not take anything from his flock or his herd to make a meal for the traveller who had come to him, but he took the poor man's lamb and made it ready for the man who had come.* (2 Samuel 12:4 (BBE))
_Bible Insight:_
Those who have, get more. Those who don't have, lose even what they have to those who have more! This is both a spiritual and a natural principle. (Luke 8:18)
While this principle is true, in the story before us, brother David would not be spared for taking a poor man's own, to add to his own, or to use instead of his.
When we try to apply spiritual principles with ungodly mode or conduct, we have breached the divine modus operandi. Having more and more must be with strict adherence to divine instructions.
In a world where wealth is worshipped, we must be careful. If being wealthy is God's will, and of course it is, how we become wealthy is also very important to God. Besides, our definition of "wealth" must come form God too--not the world!
We can't justify the means, by the end. When we seek anything good, money, fame, advantage, educational qualifications, promotions, etc, we must be sure that the means we employ in the course of reaching our aims, must be God's will too.
